Principle of Operation

Material to be processed enters the top of the Comil and falls into th screen chamber. The rotating impeller imparts a vortex flow pattern to be infeed material which is forced to the screen surface with centrifugal force.

Here particles are reduced in size and instantly discharged through the screen openings. Material overwork and frictional heat are effectively eliminated by careful selection of screen type and impeller configuration.

COMIL – Comical Screen Mill

In 1976, the world was introduced to the first conical mill. Very quickly, Process managers in the Pharmaceutical, Food, Cosmetic and Chemical industries recognized important advantages in this concept for dispersion and size reduction of both wet and dry granulates:

  • highly consistent product sizing
  • minimal production of fines
  • low heat for sensitive materials
  • low energy consumption
    reduced noise
  • high throughputs

The conical mill soon became the universal standard for diverse processing needs: dry milling and mixing, controlled grinding, dispersion, deagglomeration and wet-mass delumping process. But the first, the original, was the Quadro Comil and after more than 25 years later, the first is still the leader.

The original Comil has now expanded to a line of 14 base models developed for specific appplications and volume requirements.
Quadro takes pride in its role in enhancing production efficiencies and product quality for virtually every major multinatioal processor today.

For pharmaceutical customers, the Quadro Comil size reduces material for uniform product sizing and dosing. In food preparation, the gentle action of the Comil protects sensitive ingredients from excessive heat and friction.

In a host of additional applications in Food, Personal Healthcare and Cosmetic preparations, Quadro quality ensures years of reliable performance and consistent results – the key to cost-effective operations and lasting value.

This equipment is used for grinding, milling, de-lumping and many other particle size reduction functions. Unlike traditional high energy mills, the Comil utilizes low velocity action which provides the benefits of low heat, low dust and low noise operation.

All Equipment are custom-made including documentation certification provided. Quadro Engineering also manufacturers “Halal” design units with documentation certification.
